HI, I’M ARCHIE BOWEN
Long before I was a husband or a dad, baseball was already a huge part of my life. Growing up in Huntingtown, Maryland, the game took me far beyond my hometown and gave me decades of experience from nearly every angle—as a player, coach, hitting instructor, and longtime umpire.
Along the way, I discovered that understanding baseball and being able to teach it successfully are two very different things. I've been blessed with an ability to see the game differently, find what others may overlook, and connect with players in a way that helps them understand and improve.
Then baseball became part of my family's story. I got married, became a dad, and eventually found myself experiencing the game all over again through my own two boys.
Baseball has given me and my family more than I ever could have imagined. Silently Savage Baseball is my opportunity to give something back—using a lifetime of experience and a gift I've been blessed with to help the next generation of players find their own success in this game.
THE LESSONS THAT HIT HOME
Some of the most important lessons from a lifetime in baseball came from the two players closest to me—my own boys. Jack and Alex couldn't be more different as hitters.
Training them reinforced what I'd learned over the years: there isn't one answer for every player.
JACK - WHEN ABILITY ISN’T THE PROBLEM
Jack can look like a different hitter in practice than he does in a game. The swing is there. The ability is there. But something changes when the game starts.
Working through it mentally reinforces that not every hitting problem is a swing problem. Sometimes the challenge is figuring out why a player can do it in practice but not in the game—and helping them bridge that gap.

ALEX - DON'T LET SIZE FOOL YOU
Alex has almost always been one of the smallest players on the field. The best part? Nobody expects that kind of power to come from a kid his size.
Learning to use his body efficiently has made him dangerous at the plate and reinforced something I've seen time and again: size doesn't determine what a hitter is capable of—development does.
